Giving this a five star due to the quality of the food, and the wine, even though it is sooo reasonable, its incredibly good too.
The ambience is nice, but don’t let the dark exterior fool you. Or the word express. It is certainly not your typical “express” anything. It is delightful, relaxing, beautiful Italian music, and simply divine food. Service has always been good everyone we good here.

Sapore Express is an absolute gem in San Mateo! The pasta I ordered was bursting with flavor—perfectly al dente with a sauce that was rich, savory, and comforting. The arugula on top added a fresh, peppery touch that tied everything together beautifully.

The attention to detail in every dish really stands out, and you can tell that the food is prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. It’s rare to find such authentic Italian flavors in such a cozy and unassuming spot.

Came to an unassuming chill looking Italian place that looked like a fast casual spot, ended up having some of the best pasta of my life. The radiator pasta is crazy good! Even the house wines were solid. Coming back because I don’t want to wait an hour for Taishoken!

discovered this lovely lovely gem to enjoy homemade Italian!!!!! absolutely looooved the fiocchetti al gorgonzola!! i did not expect the slightly sweet note and texture from the pear to harmonize soooo perfectly with the rich cheese. 🫕

On a street with a bunch of food places, this place stood out. Small place with a few tables inside and a few outside, the service was quick and attentive, the food was tasty in good portions, and dessert topped it off. I would highly recommend giving this small place a try if you're in the mood for Italian food.

We’ve been coming here for nearly 4 years, and every time was a good experience. Genuinely, the food is one of the best pastas I’ve had, and the service is amazing. Brad is really friendly and nice to talk to. The atmosphere and the ambiance is a real comfort as well. Undoubtedly, our favorite pasta place in the bay.

Come here regularly because their pasta is some of the best my family’s had. Love the squid ink pasta the most. Staff is pretty friendly for the most part as well.
