The ER was very busy as usual, but the nursing staff and doctors were really nice. My husband was in crisis and it turned out he was having a stroke. They admitted him and that's where it kind of went downhill. The nurses are nice and friendly. My husband was there for 5 days. Since this was his 2nd stroke I told every nurse I saw that the first stroke affected his memory and to direct questions to me either in person or by phone. I received 1 phone call during this 5 days and that was from his case manager. I never saw or spoke to the doctor. I couldn't be there at 8am when he did rounds. I tried to set up a time to talk to him about all the tests they ran. My husband called and told me they did an MRI and he had had another stroke. When it came time to discharge him no one called and let me know. My husband did, but I wasn't sure if he was correct so I came to talk to the people. The nurse was unsure and I wanted him to stay 1 more night so he could come home and be safe since he was unstable walking. The nurse said sure he could stay another day. I drove the 20 miles back home only to have my husband call and say they were discharging him. Then they weren't sure if it was too late to discharge him so I got part way back to the hospital but had to stop and while they figured out what they were doing. By this time it was after 7pm. I have never picked up anyone from that hospital, and my dad was in and out numerous times, after 4pm. Not 1 person reached out to talk to me about my husband's care or to coordinate his discharge. Ever since Adventist health took over they have gone downhill. When it was Sonora Community it was the best place. The only reason my husband was brought there instead of Mark Twain hospital is because Mark twain had no imaging services at that time. I will avoid Adventist health at all times if possible

After moving to Gold Country this past Fall, this was my first visit to Adventist Health Sonora. All in all, I was pleased with the care I received in the ER. It was an unusually busy evening (according to the nurses) so I waited for quite a while before being seen since my condition wasn't as acute as others. However, I was suffering from sever Sciatica and was in quite a bit of pain. With the long wait, it was miserable. It would have been helpful if they could have given me a pain med. just to help take the edge off while I was waiting. Eventually I was treated. They took a couple of X-rays just to be safe since this was my first episode with the condition. The staff in the ER were wonderful. Very professional yet easy going, friendly and really did a great job to make me feel better. I greatly appreciated their diligence and care in checking my wristband before they took any labs or treatment, making sure they were treating the right person with the right procedure. The ER Doc carefully listened to my explanations and was fairly quick at setting out a plan to not only give me immediate relief but to help alleviate the problem over the next few days. The hospital, equipment and rooms were all clean and well maintained. Adventist Health Sonora will be our go to hospital and I look forward to finding a Primary Care Physician within their network.

The facility was neat, the nurses were great. The first fnp was great. The doctor asked few questions explained little spent even less time. If I had my choice he would not be paid. Every thing else 4 star 🌟 he 1.
