Brand new bakery in Scotts valley. Took over the old Mallone's bar restaurant building, with lots of renovation.
Gorgeous food. I had a Pan au Raisin, a morning bun and a baguette all to go...
Staff was friendly. Lots of selection. Very spacious footprint... Offering drip coffee Great as well as espresso drinks...
I will try the drip coffee next time
Great to see a new business in Scotts valley. Nespresso/cappuccino was delicious train staff and a perfectly pulled shot.

Only critique I can make is $8 for a croissant. Seems a little pricey!

Like many / all reviews mentioning their almond croissant on y e l p, it’s so bad that it is a crime to label it as almond croissant. It’s no longer about personal tastes like some prefer it to have more almonds, less syrup, more almond paste, more crunch on the croissant, smashed vs not… it is simply not an almond croissant. All dough, barely any almond paste, and most importantly the dough is terrible. Like flour mixed with water with barely any butter. Nothing like croissant dough. Moreover, it tastes so bad. And they charge $10 - 11 for it. Maison Nico’s is only $5.5 😭

The reason many of us (myself included) get tricked into buying from them is that the Google or y e l p listing for their business is located in their HQ, whereas they sell in many farmers’ market. So it may be difficult to find the right listing in time to see all the reviews. People need to start leaving reviews for this specific business under the listings of the farmers’ markets they sell at. We need to save as many people as we can from terrible food.

I'm very happy that they opened a shop in Scotts Valley, as I haven't found any other decent bakeries up here. We used to buy from them at the Live Oak Farmers market location and were always impressed with their pastries. This morning I went to the Scotts Valley store seeking a large tart, because my wife invited some people over for brunch. We had planned on making something ourselves, but it didn't work out. They sold me a pan of pear tart, which was delicious! They also let me take the pan home and return it to them the next day.

Great food, unusual to expected french specialties. Very knowledgable staff. Nice fireplace and cheerful, open dining area. They are getting a wine bar authorized and have plenty of space for seating. Owner is delightful!!!
My favorite is the meat filling in the “Tomato Burger.” It is amazing! Very tasty pastries. Nice plates with fresh salad or soup when dining in, but they also box to go.

This is for the Sunnyvale farmers market location. This one morning bun was $4 and it was hard, stale, and tasted like disappointment. It was so stale it must have been baked a week before and left in storage.

This bakery is hands down the best! I can’t believe we’re lucky enough to have it in Scotts Valley. I’ve brought their treats to several gatherings, and they’re always a hit—everyone raves about them! The staff, including the owner, are incredibly kind and welcoming. Their outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying a meal there, too. Not only are the baked goods chef’s kiss, but their hot dishes are amazing as well. The lasagna is easily the best I’ve ever had!

Wonderful bakery in SV. So lucky to have it here! The food is incredible; for the quality, the price is worth it. Great coffee and friendly staff! I would love to. specialty French items in the fridge (cheeses, yogurts) and some specialty pantry items (spreads, bags of coffee, etc.). I love AFB and when I'm in town am here at least two times a week!!!!

I bought a chocolate croissant and a crookie.
The chocolate croissant’s texture was off as it was chewy and dense rather than flaky. The inside had two hard bars of chocolate only located in the center of the croissant.

When I saw that this bakery had crookie, I was super excited as I have previously had a crookie from the bakery where they were invented in Paris. The original crookie is a chocolate chip cookie incorporated into a flaky croissant. It balances the buttery flavors of the cookie and croissant with the bitterness of the chocolate chips. The adorable French Bakery’s crookie does not compare. It is a chewy croissant wrapped around a dry, flavorless cookie. The cookie literally crumbled like sand in my hands.

For $14 for two croissants I expect the same quality that I had in France, not Starbucks.
