They sell fake glasses be aware the one on dispaly are not the ones you get, I used to get glasses and contacts here all the time but this last time they gave me my contacts they were in a plastic bag and some where incorrect perscription and I didnt realize until my husband on 3 diffrent times got Fake Maui Jims he has returned them and they are not able to provide documentaion from Maui Jim these are fake glasses, each time my husband has got his glasses they have an excuse why they are not the same as the one he order and say maui jim no longer provides paper work, which is not true we called maui jim and that store does have a license to sell but they did not have an order for my husbands glasses from the store so they are giving the coustmers the fake ones. After they could not provide why they said a refund will take 2 weeks. These were iver 750 pair of glasses. Please be warned they are doing serious fruad here they have also billed our insurance incorrecly. If you bought glasses here check with the retalier they are like fake.

I had a terrible experience here. To preface, I never write negative reviews, but I felt it was necessary to share this and warn others based on my experience

I was given my 3 month supply of prescription daily contact lenses in a plastic bag, which seemed very unprofessional and made me concerned about the quality of the lenses. I didn’t think too much about it at the time and trusted that they wouldn’t give me compromised product. However, the lenses expired within a year and irritated and dried out my eyes. There were multiple times my eyes burned so much from putting in my contacts. When I ordered the same lenses from a reputable website, they arrived in a proper box, had a five-year expiration date, and didn’t cause any irritation.

That’s when I realized I was likely given leftover trial lenses or samples, which is not what I expect when paying for prescription lenses. I would strongly recommend ensuring that the office provides properly packaged lenses directly from the manufacturer. I’m definitely finding a new optometrist office after this experience and would advise others to be cautious.

Always a pleasant experience here with the friendly and familiar staff, shout out Harrison and Cassandra for their help. Before, Kenny was the best. Although contacts and glasses can be ordered online, I make it a point when visiting downtown Mountain View / Castro Street to stop by this shop to pick up my contacts prescription refills.

When I call or drop by to check, more than not it's available to my delight. I really appreciate it! This is why I keep coming back, even if not often. Also, they have a great selection of brand name and affordable glasses that you can try on for your next frames, efficient turn around time and conveniently located near coffee shops, restaurants, MV city hall, library, parks, you name it. Thanks guys!

Stopped by on 5/14 to get my glasses adjusted and tightened. Harrison was so nice and gave me great advice on how to keep my glasses tightened for longer. Super knowledgeable and no fee for small adjustments. Thank you Harrison!

I was referred to Dr Jenny for an eye exam and she was very courteous and professional, and so I made the mistake of trusting the sales guy up front to fit the prescribed progressive lenses onto my sunglasses along with some reading glasses. Shoddy job on the lens replacement, with some rubbery glue smeared on the lenses and the rims, all the way on to the sides of the frame. I took them home ,tried to clean with soap and water without much success. Went back next day to ask if there was a special solution to help clean off the mess, and he said he cannot help me, and he "did nothing wrong", and went so far as to blame my original Rayban frame for the mess! Such lousy after sales service, after spending close to a thousand dollars in that dingy store! I would have really liked to continue with the doctor, but will not enter that place again.

While Dr. Cheung is personable and professional, the other 2 folks at the reception today 4-27-24 could definitely be replaced by some sort of a AI driven robot. The lady was too preoccupied with her phone to even remotely be engaged in the conversation. The guy was cold and distant, without even any attempt to make small talk. His eyes were just darting around the room as if we didn’t breathe the same air. While I’m not a proponent of automation by any means, today’s interaction with the reception folks definitely warrants humans becoming absolete due to their lack of interpersonal skills. Oh well….

This place is great. Got an appointment for an eye exam within two days. The exam included all the eye health checks I am used to and felt very professional. The service and help regarding frame and lens selection was excellent and most importantly I wasn’t pushed towards making an immediate buying decision or talked into upgrades. I felt like I am in full control. So I was happy to come back and submit my order for new glasses.

Summary: This is the first time I have to say this in a review (and I feel bad about it), but unfortunately the owner is untrustworthy and was lying to my face - twice - about what the insurance would cover vs. co-pay. Don't trust the shop, they may be trying to rip you off in a major way.

Details: My daughter and I went for an eye exam 2 weeks ago, and Dr. Jenny Cheung (OD), who is performing eye exams at this location, I can absolutely recommend. She took enough time to do the exam thoroughly, checked for various potential issues, and explained everything patiently to our kid throughout the process. On top of the professional experience, she is also very friendly and nice. For exams, I can recommend this location, and maybe Dr. Cheung should try to find a better place.

For getting the actual glasses, it is the opposite. The shop owner is unfriendly, talks more than he listens to questions, and tried to rip me off. His first quote was more than double the price other shops quoted with exactly the same frame and options on the lenses. When I went back the second time about a week later and asked if he was sure my insurance wouldn't cover more, he lied to my face a second time babbling on about insurances paying only the basics but that I surely wanted something better, so I would have to pay the difference. When I told him that I was pretty sure the insurance covered it, he told me that I can check again because he knows better and basically threw my whole family out of the shop. Don't go there.
