I mean don’t get me wrong, the inside is nice and the apartments are really close to the plaza so you can literally walk to do some shopping or dining. The amenities are great, the gym is clean and spacious the pool is somewhat clean but manageable and the dog park is great a good plus! There is a laundry room but it’s kinda expensive $1 for EACH wash and dryer use so you’re pretty much paying for each load, I would say the laundromat is a lot cheaper. Then oof of course if you got maintenance problem in your home they won’t either come or they’ll take hours to get it fixed, so good luck. the only thing that kinda ruined it was the whole parking, it didn’t have no problem until they had more updates with you having to pay extra for parking your own vehicle and permit parking spots. Ir sucks how guest have to park outside the gates. It’s stressful honestly. I wish they got rid of it and had open parking again. Maybe more parking area would be useful. I give them a 7/10 place to live!

NOT RECOMMENDED
I was so happy to learn that I had gotten approved, my first apartment, just my daughters and I. Gated community awesome (for my daughters safety) hahaha yeah right! Gates often malfunctioning, homeless people having access to trash bins, dirty pools, dirty jacuzzi, laundry upgrade (yeah be ready to pay $10) HIDDEN FEES ETC but that’s not it! When they showed me the apartment I literally didn’t see all the issues because what trapped me was the upgraded kitchen. OMG where do I start Old windows, mold, condensation, paint on top of paint on top of paint, check the bathroom door hinges. What had me rolling was the way you had to “close” if it closed, the sliding screen door to the balcony, a screw hahaha a screw across the frame. I can keep going and going and going, IF YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT CONSIDERATE GO FOR IT!!! Mind you I put my complaints and nothing was done, except a “we are trying to address the issue.” Thank God my lease is over, greedy people that also like to keep your deposit because they have to clean and paint BS…. Thumbs down

Please look elsewhere and don’t consider moving into these apartments. Over priced and they charge for every single little thing they can get. The apartments are not built well. The leasing office personnel is NEVER available. They constantly put a sign up reading “will return” but never actually return at the time they put up. It’s never easy reaching them over the phone, I actually don’t think I’ve ever been able to talk to someone without having to go to the leasing office myself and waiting. Every single time I have emailed, I have had to email them again days later before getting a response. Point is, they are not going to be available for you if you have any issues or need anything from them. On top of all of this, maybe the worst part, I got a rental car towed right from the spot I paid monthly for! Because it did not have a parking sticker. Mind you, I got this rental on a Saturday afternoon and it was towed at midnight and no one was at the office for me to notify. They are closed on Sunday as well. And it was Easter Sunday the next day just to add that little note! They did nothing to correct this situation. I don’t think it’s fair for me to have to park my rental car outside the property and can’t park it in a spot that I pay for and is designated to my apartment only.
They give the towing company full control over what vehicles get towed and obviously they will take advantage of this.
If you skipped to the end just take it as a full warning that these apartments do not care for their residents they are only trying to get money and give very little back.

First off, I have to say how amazing Karla was in the process of getting this apartment. I was searching all week and getting a dead end on finding a new place to live. I found Hidden Cove and called to see if they had anything available, I wasn't able to get a hold of anyone but their automated system got me in contact with Karla. Even tho we didn't have an appointment she was able to squeeze me in for a non guided tour, which worked out better. She was still able to answer all my questions and get me signed up in an apartment the same day. Her kindness and understanding through me rushing and asking her a million questions was greatly appreciated! If you are looking for a good hearted person please request her.

For anyone looking for a new place you must understand Hidden Cove is made up of THREE sections. Hidden Cove 1a (apartments near the leasing office), Hidden Cove 1b (apartments across from the middle school, on the corner of 9th and Del Dios Rd), Hidden Cove 2 (apartments behind the leasing office, driving access via West 11th Ave). Hidden Cove 2 are the only apartments with central air and a washer and dryer in the unit, they are also located near the Fitness Center. There is only one fitness center, so if you are in HC1b, it will be a nice little hike through HC1a to get to it.

The laundry facilities use either a card which I believe you need to pay for or you can use the app on your phone to add money and scan the washer/dryers to pay. Super convenient and range between $1.75-$2.25 (that's all I've paid and you can pay more for longer drying or deeper washing).

All the homes have a keypad to enter which is so convenient because you can use your phone to lock and unlock your door wherever you are. Your phone can also control the lights in the living room to dim and full brightness.

I'm located in HC1b and haven't had any issues with neighbors or noise. There's the occasional loud music from the car outside or kids/babies crying, dogs barking (mine included) but nothing you'd have to report.

The gates weren't working when I first moved in but it saved me the trouble from putting in the gate number. They seem to be working now and besides being very slow to open and close no issues. Occasionally some cars will park on a blind turn inside the parking lot near the apartments, usually they are delivery trucks or maintenance vans/trucks.

Parking is free on the street and even tho I don't park there I have seen some car glass on the road, but I haven't witnessed any breaking in or damage to cars.

There is a "convenient" store between HC1a and HC1b that sells a lot of alcohol. A lot of bottles and cans can be seen littered across the front of the complexes, but they usually get cleaned up within a week or so.

If you decide to live here please read the lease! Utilities and electricity are NOT included. The utilities amount will be added to your rent. Electricity/gas are combined through a separate company. All conveniently accessable through your smart phone. I haven't had any trouble paying and accessing these.

Overall I am very happy living here. The maintenance guys riding around are very nice and say hello, and will even help you if you stop and ask them. I feel safe walking around at night and don't mind seeing all the doggos that reside here; gives my dog a lot of friends to bark at lol

After a year I'll update my review but coming in blind to a new city and apartment living I'm super happy I found this complex. Just make sure you read your lease, ask a lot of questions and understand you're living in an apartment complex and not your own personal house. Glad I made the move, and thank you again Karla!

Good luck trying to get a hold of the leasing office as a tenant- no matter how much you call or email, they go unanswered. If you try to show up at the leasing office to talk, their door will be locked due to an “appointment”- new tenants. They are so focused on getting new people in the door they don’t care at all about their current tenants.

Maintenance was responsive and I overall enjoyed my unit. However—
I had a few issues during my stay but overall they were resolved (like unlawful entry by their maintenance team climbing up my patio with no notice- when I was home alone and 8 months pregnant - but they were sooooo sorry). They changed the laundry so now you either have to use an app or they charge you $10 to get a reloadable card- absolute crock of crap. They also put Astro Turf in the dog park which is so gross and unsafe for dogs- and on super hot days the smell of urine gets so bad! Parking enforcement is a joke- very tow happy but when some one was parked over their parking line in their giant utility truck for WEEKS making it very difficult to use my own space- they wouldn’t do anything other than offer me a more expensive parking spot elsewhere so I didn’t have to park next to them. Loud landscaping at 8 am every Friday- where they leaf blow dust and dirt and leaves off the sidewalks ONTO THE CARS IN THE PARKING LOT!

They took my entire security deposit. They charged me for a full paint (which is illegal based on my lease term)due to “furniture scuffs” on the wall- which per CA law is also normal wear and tear and I can’t be charged for that. They are essentially telling me they don’t consider the law their policy. (?) I’ve been asking them to provide me an invoice and they can’t- so I will be going to Small Claims court over this. Also, Karla in the leasing office told me I didn’t have to clean prior to move out because my unit was undergoing a complete renovation after I moved out- and they would have to clean anyway. Guess what- I was still charged for cleaning and they are refusing to honor what they told me. So I’ll be including that in my small claims case as well.

Edit to add : I am not the only one they have done this to, see below screenshot

I’m telling you it’s so not worth it. I was charged $420 for a full 2BR paint job upon move out. Now this looks outrageous for living there less than 12 months. Come to find out, the cost is $20 for two little repairs, but they charge a $395 labor cost!!!!!!!!!!!! $400 out the window just like that upon move out. This place is truly unbelievable working for Satan in disguise and I am the most non religious person you will ever meet. I truthfully beg all of you to not rent with this place and put Hidden Cove out of business. They are understaffed in the leasing office and their hours are ridiculous for an apartment complex that is supposed to be there of aid to you.
